In the gold light of an autumn afternoon

Chastened by the cold
Forgiven by the
Warm shade
Of leaves
Falling
From the shelter
Of summer’s
Secrets
In the shadows
Of voluptuous trees
Cleansed by the
Cool rain
Love’s thirst slaked

Haiku

missing splendor it
seems to be the end or it
would never begin

nothing goes as planned
turning around to go back
start over again

still warm enough to
wander in short pyjamas
long may this linger

WATERSHED

I dreamt I was walking in the mountains where I came to, in fact was in the flow of, river rapids with a massive waterfall ahead and certain death. As I made my way back I thought to call a lesbian I once knew to helicopter airlift me with the coordinates from my cellphone’s GPS footprint. I then came to a bar called the Indian word for peace (?) and the barman wrote the phone number down in chalk on a black board with the name of the bar.

LIFE LINES

Victims
Of volatility
Vituperation
And invective
Verbally eviscerated
By vicissitudes
Wounded
With vicious words
My vitality drained
Evidence
Etched into my sad
And haggard visage
Determined
As I turn
To leave
